Types of Injectables

Injectables are substances that are inserted into the skin that help support muscles and lessen the appearance of wrinkles.

Injectable appointments are typically 15-30 minutes, with the length of time depending upon the extensiveness of your treatment.

Injectables typically have an onset of 2-10 days and last for 3-5 months. During this time, the wrinkles, furrows, and creases will smooth out and become unnoticeable.

Wrinkle Relaxers

Botox®, Dysport® and Daxxify® are all classified as neuromuscular inhibitors, also referred to as wrinkle relaxers. When injected into a muscle – they prevent muscle contraction thus causing the muscle to relax.

BOTOX® Cosmetic has been in use for over two decades, in over 75 countries worldwide for a variety of medical, therapeutic treatments, and is a safe, effective method for dealing with fine lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both:

  • Moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and forehead
  • Crow’s feet lines

Dysport® Cosmetic has been used for over a decade for the improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  While it is approved for:

  • Moderate to severe frown lines between the brows
  • Widely used to treat additional dynamic lines in the face (forehead and crow’s feet).

Yes! These are in-office treatments that can be performed in 30 minutes or less.  Many people return to work immediately after treatment– while others choose to be seen on Friday.

No. Patients say there is very little to no discomfort during the treatment. Some experience a mild, temporary stinging sensation during the treatment. We offer multiple comfort measures if needed during treatment.

Our patients rarely require downtime. Most of our patients typically resume normal activities right after their treatment. We ask patients to avoid lying flat for 4 hours, avoiding facials or massages the day of treatment, and exercise immediately after treatment.

Rarely some patients may fail to see improvement in their condition after treatment. Mild bruising, redness, and swelling are normal in many cases and resolve on their own in a few days.

Insurance typically covers medically necessary treatments which do not include cosmetic treatments.

Yes, financing is available today for most cosmetic procedures. Ask about it in our business office.

Dermal Fillers

Aging and other universal elements cause our skin components to break down and lose natural volume and structure. Our skin collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid levels are reduced during the aging process causing noticeable volume loss, lines, facial folds, and wrinkles in the skin.

At our practice, we utilize a variety of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and collagen stimulators which provide immediate restoration of volume loss and facial contours. Our office utilizes Juvederm (Juvederm Skinvive, Juvederm Voluma® XC, Juvederm VollureTM XC, Juvederm XC, Juvederm Volbella® XC, Juvederm® Volux® XC), Restylane (Restylane® Lyft, Restylane® Defyne, Restylane® Refyne, Restylane® Kysse), and the RHA Collection of fillers to meet the needs of our patients.

Our dermal filler appointments are scheduled for 1 hour, but they may take less time depending on the treatment area and your specific needs. These treatments can last 6-24 months. Using a fine needle, the smooth gel is gently injected under the skin. All of our products contain an anesthetic, called lidocaine, to help reduce discomfort during your treatment.

Injectable dermal fillers are synthetic gels that are primarily made of hyaluronic acid, hyaluronic acid is a water-loving molecule found naturally in our skin. Filler is used to temporarily add volume to various areas of the face. Our advanced aesthetic injectors are highly trained and very knowledgeable of facial anatomy, and the safety of their patients is their #1 priority.  

Dermal fillers correct volume loss and fill folds in the skin. Dermal fillers last longer and offer immediate results.

Neuromodulators are muscle relaxants that are generally used in the upper facial area to relax the dynamic (or expressive) lines of the face.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan found throughout the body’s connective tissue. Hyaluronic acid is the main component of what gives your skin structure, and is responsible for that plump and hydrated look. Over time Hyaluronic acid production slows down and lines, wrinkles, and folds appear. All of our dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid and can help slow the signs of aging.

No, filler will not make you look fake, in fact, our ultimate goal of filler at Dr. Rudderman Plastic Surgery and Med Spa is an overall rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. Our advanced aesthetic injectors, meticulously add filler so that you leave our office feeling more confident and with a very natural result.

Commonly treated areas include cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lips, and the tear trough. Other areas we also inject with dermal filler are temples, chin, jawline as well as fine lines on the face. Our collection of fillers is commonly used to:

We provide a complimentary consultation with our expert injectors to address your needs.

No, filler is a very tolerable treatment because we place a topical numbing crème on the area prior to injecting. You may feel a little discomfort with the small needle pokes but we use distracting tools to keep you as comfortable as possible. Our expert injectors provide exceptional techniques to ensure that all treatments are as comfortable as possible.  In addition, our fillers contain lidocaine to provide additional comfort during the treatment.

Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. This can highly vary depending on the filler used, the area of the face treated as well as the patient’s individual metabolism. Typically, we recommend retreatment every 1-2 years. After assessment with one of our injectors, they will be able to guide you if more filler is needed.  

We recommend avoiding blood thinners such as Advil, Aleve, exercise and alcohol for 24 hours after your appointment. You may take Tylenol for pain if you experience any discomfort. If swelling is present, apply ice to the area several times a day. If you have any pinpoint bruising, you may apply arnica gel to the area to expedite the healing process but this is totally optional. 

*Please note, if you take blood thinners prescribed or recommended by your doctor, please get your physician’s approval before pausing these medications.
