About the GLP-1 Weight Loss Program
What Are GLP-1s?
GLP-1s are glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists that mimic a naturally occurring hormone, making it easier to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Dr. Rudderman obtains compounded GLP-1 from the same compound pharmacies that we have used for years for medications used throughout our practice. Compound pharmacies are required to maintain strict standards and create compound medications daily to help with multiple areas of medical concerns. With compounded GLP-1, each patient’s medication is prepared specifically for them, and drawn up in individual syringes.
GLP-1 medications act as a GLP-1 hormone (made in your small intestine) to help slow down the movement of food through your stomach while increasing the feeling of fullness so you eat less.
GLP-1 medications may also act on the hunger areas of your brain to decrease your appetite. When used appropriately by qualified candidates, GLP-1s can lead to significant weight loss.
